Helen Dane, 90, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017. She was born in Hungary in 1926 and arrived in the United States in 1957 with her late husband, Andrew, and their young son, Andy. She and her family settled in Dagsboro soon thereafter, when Andrew Dane was hired by Delmarva Power.
Dane was a talented seamstress and well-skilled in many arts and crafts. She also shared in her family’s love of tennis, both competitively and recreationally. She was an active member of the YMCA and a dedicated volunteer, even earning the “Volunteer of the Year” award.
She is survived by her son, Andy Dane and his wife, Jane; her daughter, Shirley Townsend and her husband, Chet; and three grandchildren, Andrew Ryan Dane, Veronica Townsend and Ches Townsend.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 1 p.m., with visitation at noon, at Melson Funeral Services in Frankford, Del.
