Steven L. “Steve” Hudson, 55, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was born July 28, 1961, in Salisbury, Md., to the late George Hudson and Delores Welch, who survives him.
Hudson was the director of technical engineering for Sussex County for 27 years. Hudson was a central figure in pioneering the 911 center and the solar field at the Georgetown airport. He was a Redskins fan and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, golfing and target shooting. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with them, especially trips to Disney with his grandchildren. Hudson was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, Hudson is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Mary Carol Hudson of Millsboro; a daughter, Carrie Patterson and her husband, Kevin, of Harrington, Del.; a son, Brian Marvel and his wife, Tanya, of Selbyville, Del.; his stepmother, Sue Hudson of Millsboro; a brother, Tony Hudson and his companion, Tammy Sisk, of Georgetown, Del.; sisters Terry Komlo and her husband, Brian, of Laurel, Del., and Tammy Tisher and her husband, Mark, of Ellendale, Del.; stepbrothers Troy Lockwood and his wife, Jill, of New York, and Herman Lockwood and his wife, Letitia, of Georgetown, Del.; his five grandchildren, Natalie Patterson, Iain Patterson, Logan Marvel, Morgan Marvel and Maddelyn Marvel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many special friends.
A funeral service and celebration of life were scheduled for March 13, 2017, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Del., followed by burial at Millsboro Cemetery.
