Francis J. Hudson, 91, of Laurel, Del., passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Genesis Health Care in Seaford, Del. Hudson was born in Millsboro, Del., on April 20, 1925, to the late Ollie Hudson and Amelia Lowe Hudson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II and in the Atlantic theater, LST crew. Hudson was a truck driver for Penco, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed horseshoes, dirt-track racing, camping, dancing, and playing tricks and teasing. He was devoted to his family and a very friendly person who would do anything for others.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Hudson, who passed in July of 2015; two brothers, Alton Hudson and Vernon Hudson; and two sisters, Virginia Adams and Josephine Morio.
Hudson is survived by six children, Lorraine Neal and her husband, Tom, of Hartly, Del., Mary Young and her husband, Bob, of Laurel, Joe Hudson of Laurel, Penny West and her husband, Tim, also of Laurel, Jane Ortiz and her husband, Eduardo, of Georgetown, Del., and Dean Hudson and his wife, Karen, of Millsboro; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; special brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim Adams, Madeline Hudson and “Good Buddy” Albert Baker and his wife, Ilene; and his extended family and friends.
A funeral service was scheduled for March 18, 2017, at Watson Funeral Home, with burial following at Carey’s Cemetery, both in Millsboro, Del. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
