Sonja F. Damico, 71, of Ocean City, Md., and Ocean View, Del., formerly of Ellicott City, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del.
Damico was born in Chesnee, S.C., on May 13, 1945, daughter of the late David Talton Stephens and Myrtle Jenelle (Parris) Stephens. She moved at an early age to Baltimore, Md., and graduated from Catonsville (Md.) High School. Damico retired in 2005 from work as a Realtor and had worked for various real estate companies in the Ellicott City area.
She was passionate about her artwork and was also a talented children’s author who wrote and had two children’s books published. She loved time spent with her grandchildren and also volunteered her time with the Worcester County (Md.) Humane Society. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and “Noni.”
Damico is survived by her husband of 25.5 years, Salvatore “Tor” V. Damico; three sons, Scott Faya, Brian Faya and his wife, Laura, and Eric Faya, all of Maryland; a stepson, Vincent Damico and his wife, Tracy, of Maryland; and eight precious grandchildren, Jenna Loss, Samantha Faya, Joseph Damico, Brandon Faya, Lindsay Faya, Dominic Damico, Isabella Damico and Brady Faya.
A visitation was scheduled for March 26, 2017, at Melson Funeral Services, with funeral service on March 27 at Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, both in Ocean View, Del.
