Evans and Lingo medal in Sussex Tech golf win over IR
The Sussex Technical High School golf team defeated Indian River 187 to 204 at Cripple Creek on Tuesday, April 4, as the Ravens improved to 3-0 on the year, while the Indians fell to 2-3.
IR senior John Evans and Tech sophomore Brady Lingo were the medalists on the day, each finishing with a 42.
Up next, the Indians will take on Polytech and Red Lion on Thursday, April 6, while the Ravens will get set to face Lake Forest on Wednesday, April 5, (after Coastal Press time).

Sussex Tech 12, Sussex Academy 11 (girls’ lacrosse)
It was a Georgetown-based battle when the Sussex Technical High School and Sussex Academy girls’ lacrosse teams faced off on Wednesday, March 29, with the Ravens edging the Seahawks 12-11 in a tight a matchup.
Morgan Johnson led the scoring for the Ravens with four goals and one assist, with Bridgette Johnson finishing with a hat trick on the day, and Grace Lee and Madi Bada each racking up two goals.
Sussex Academy was led by three goals each from Kelsey Smith and Claire Loftus, and two goals from Molly Martiner. Goalkeeper Grace Scott racked up 17 saves for the Seahawks.
Sussex Academy followed with a 19-3 win over Glasgow on Monday, April 3, to move to 3-2 on the season. The win put Sussex Tech at 2-1.
DCHS softball starts 4-0 with 23-6 win over Christiana
Delmarva Christian High School is 4-0 on the season after a 23-6 win over Christiana High School on Tuesday, April 4.
The Royals rallied for 11 runs on nine hits in the second inning to pull off the win. Freshman Malaurie “Mal-Mal” Noble and sophomore Jordyn DiFava each doubled and posted three RBIs in the matchup, while senior Allie Zitvogel and sophomore Siera Jones each tallied three hits in the game. Junior pitcher Camryn Thompson and freshman pitcher Jayla Culver combined for eight strikeouts.
Headed into a Thursday, April 6, matchup against Delmar, the Royals had outscored their first four opponents by a collective score of 76-8.
Sussex Central 9, Cape Henlopen 6 (softball)
The Sussex Central softball team earned their first win of the season, taking down Cape Henlopen 9-6 on Tuesday, April 4.
Taylor Evick led Sussex Central with a double and two RBIs, with Kailee Abbott tallying a triple in the game.
Jordyn Virden and Hannah Jones each hit homered for Cape in the bottom of the seventh.
The Golden Knights were 2-1 on the season headed into a game against Lake Forest on Thursday, April 6, (after Coastal Point press time).
