Josetti nets eight in IR boys’ lax win over Lake Forest

Junior attackman Cole “the Machete” Josetti racked up eight goals and three assists as the Indian River High School boys’ lacrosse team took Lake Forest into halftime up 15-1 and went on to an eventual 23-3 win on Wednesday, April 12.

Senior midfielders Andrew White and George “G-Mart” Martin and junior attackman Wyatt Kovatch all finished the day with four goals each as the the Indians improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Henlopen South headed into spring break.

IR baseball downs Decatur for second win

Coming off a division-loss to Delmar, the Indian River High School baseball bounced back with a 6-4 road win at Stephen Decatur (Md.) on Wednesday, April 12.

Senior RF Zion Howard had two hits and a double in that matchup, with junior P/2B Myles Clark also tallying a double on the day for the Indians, and sophomore pitching J.J. Killen managing a triple in the match up.

Killen and freshman pitcher Chase Hall shared the work load on the mound against the Seahawks, combining for seven strikeouts.

The Indians were 2-6 on the season and 1-1 in the Henlopen South headed into their Thursday, April 20, match up against Lake Forest. That game was set to begin at 4:15 p.m. at IR.

IR girls’ lax rolls St. Thomas More 22-10

The Indian River High School girls’ lacrosse team earned their second win of the season with a 22-10 win over St. Thomas More on Wednesday, April 12.

Junior midfielder Helen Davis put up six goals on the day, senior midfielder Lexi Haden finished with five, junior midfielder Delaney Brannon and freshman attacker Kaylee “K-Hall” Hall each had three, sophomore midfielder Lexi Webb had two goals, and Zofia Czyewski, Olivia Lease and Sarandon Slebodnick all had one goal each.

Coastal Delaware Running Festival set for this weekend

“Delaware’s Coolest Marathon” is set to make its return to Dewey Beach this April 21-23, with online registration still open for the Coastal Delaware Running Festival.

The Boston Marathon-qualifier event will feature a marathon, half-marathon, 9K and 5K, in addition to events all throughout the weekend, in an effort to raise funds for the Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation and Delaware Seashore State Park.
