Indian River 12, Lake Forest 1 (baseball)

The Indian River High School baseball team tallied nine runs in the fourth inning to take down Lake Forest 12-1 on Thursday, April 20.
Sophomore CF Jacob Anderson gave the Indians a third inning lead with an RBI-double in that game. Anderson, sophomore 3B Grant Argo and freshman LF K.J. Custis all finished the game with two hits each.
Sophomore pitcher J.J. Killen and freshman pitcher Chase Hall held the Spartans to four hits on the day.
The win put the Indians at 3-6 on the season and 2-1in the Henlopen South division, headed into a rescheduled matchup against Laurel on Wednesday, April 26, (after Coastal Point press time).

Justin’s Beach House 5K registration open

Register is open online for the annual Justin’s Beach House 5K run and 2-mile walk.
The event put on by Focus Multisports is set to take place on Saturday, May 27, in downtown Bethany Beach, to help raise funds for the Justin Jennings Foundation.

Sussex Central 4, Caesar Rodney 1 (softball)

Senior pitcher Hayley McCabe struck out six batters this week to help lead the Sussex Central High School softball team to a 4-1 Henlopen North division win over Caesar Rodney.
Freshman Bella Grebe tallied a home run in the first inning to give the Golden Knights the initial lead, scoring twice with two hits and a walk in the matchup. Junior Kailee Abbott added three hits for the Knights.
Central improved to 6-2 on the season with the win, while the Riders fell to 6-4.

Caesar Rodney 4, Sussex Central 3 (baseball)

The Caesar Rodney High School baseball team took down Sussex Central 4-3 in a game called after five-innings, due to weather, on Monday, April 24.
Central senior Tyler Stanley had two hits in the matchup as the Golden Knights fell to 2-6 on the season.
Up next, Central will head to Woodbridge on Friday, April 28, for a game starting at 4:15 p.m.

River Soccer Travel Team tryouts to begin May 15

Representative Travel Team tryouts for the River Soccer Club will begin on Monday, May 15, and span through Monday, June 12, depending on age group.
Tryouts for boys and girls born from 1999 to 2009 will be held at the River Soccer Complex in Roxana.
