Donald George “Don” Meyer, 73, of Harbeson, Del., formerly of Medway, Mass., passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 16, 1943, in Watertown, Wis., son of George E. Meyer & Lois (Gottschalk) Meyer.
Meyer graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from DeVry Technical School. He worked as a computer tech-support engineer for Honeywell/Bull Information Systems until retiring in 2012. He loved his ever-changing job and the challenge of solving the technical problems.
His favorite hobby was golf, and he was a member of the Wayland, Mass., golf league for many years, serving as their secretary. He was also secretary of the Board of Directors at The Trails of Beaver Creek, Harbeson, where he lived for three years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Meyer was married for almost 47 years to Maureen Sweeney, and they have one daughter, Michelle Richardson, wife of Douglas, and three grandchildren, Noah, Rosalie and Parker.
In addition to his parents, Meyer was preceded in death by his brother, George C. Meyer, and brother-in-law, Richard Felix Lamrouex. He is survived by his three sisters, Evelyn Drake and her husband, Michael, of Yorktown, Va., Jean Lamrouex of Bowie, Md., Lorraine Nahmens and her husband, Charles, of Lacombe, La., and his aunt, Elaine Bailey, and her husband, Russell, of Bloomfield, Ind.; and his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Meyer’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 10 a.m., with funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Saint Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, Del.
