William C. “Bill Calvin” Hudson, 82, of Gumboro, Del., passed away peacefully in the care and comfort of his family and the staff from the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del., on Friday, April 28, 2017. He was born in Bishop, Md., to the late Calvin P. Hudson and Naoma K. Day Hudson.
Hudson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Delaware National Guard and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a poultry farmer and an all-around good person. He was friendly, never met a stranger and would always be willing to help someone out. He loved the outdoors and had a hard time being idle. Hudson loved his flowers beds, gardening, landscaping and playing with his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Hudson was also preceded in death by a sister, Naoma Cordrey. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor L. Scott Hudson of Gumboro, Del.; three children; Ronald Hudson and his wife, Debbie, of Gumboro, Del., Douglas Hudson and his fiancée, Lisa Mears, of Laurel, Del., and Paula Candy and her husband, James Candy Jr., of Parsonsburg, Md.; three sisters, Mattie Lynch, Helen Mumford and her husband, Paul, and Antoinette “Ancy” Bowden; six grandchildren, Jimmy Candy and his wife, Sophia, Matt Candy and his wife, Denise, Steven Candy, Jeremy Candy and his wife, Shelby, Justin Hudson and Kari Hudson; and two great-grandchildren, Mollie and Colton Candy.
A funeral service was to be held May 4, 2017, at Watson Funeral Home, with burial at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, both in Millsboro, Del.
