Henry J. Ratcliffe, 74, of Dagsboro, Del., formerly of Baltimore City, Md., passed away on May 8, 2017, at his home. He was born June 27, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Henry M. Ratcliffe and Kathleen A. (Slaysman) Ratcliffe.
Ratcliffe was a union steel worker until his retirement in 2000. He led an active lifestyle, doing tai chi and martial arts for more than 30 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, scuba diving, riding his motorcycle and being part of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. He was a member of the NRA and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2542 in Roxana, Del., and was a Navy Football fan.
In addition to his parents, Ratcliffe was preceded in death by a son, Brian M. Ratcliffe, on March 25, 1970. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane (Lawrence) Ratcliffe; daughter, Jacqueline A. Pine, and her husband, Bryan, of Baltimore County, Md.; a grandchild, Daniel A. Budrecki of Baltimore County; a sister, Anne Plemple and her husband, Joseph, of Baltimore City, Md., and their son, Andrew Pemple of California; and numerous cousins.
A visitation and prayer service were scheduled for May 10, 2017, at Melson Funeral Services, Frankford, Del. Interment set for May 11, 2017, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro, Del.
