Nancy Jersin Hobbes, 85, of Millsboro, Del., passed away at her residence, surrounded by her loving family and in the care of Compassionate Care Hospice. She was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Harold E. and Helen Kathryn Watson Jersin.
After graduating from Eastern High School, she went on to attend American University. She married her husband, William, in 1951. Together they raised three children. She also worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, retiring in 2000. William preceded her in death in 2010. Hobbes moved to Ocean Pines, Md., then to Millsboro.
She was a vivacious, fun-loving woman who balanced love and devotion with being a feisty lady. Hobbes thrived on social events with her friends, especially the Millsboro and Lewes bridge groups, and her love of the local restaurants and having a martini at the Blue Water Grill. She was an animal lover and adored her feline friend Friday.
Hobbes is survived by her three children, John William Hobbes and his wife, Susan, of Las Vegas, Nev., Wendy Carol Hobbes of Baltimore, and Charles T. Hobbes of Derwood, Md.; two grandchildren, Evan and Hayley Hobbes; and a brother, Wayne Jersin and his wife, Linda, of Dallas, Texas.
The family thanked Dr. Jennifer Hurd for her excellent care, friendship and going beyond the call of duty in her role as Hobbes’ physician.
Services and interment were private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to the SPCA.
