Gerald A. “Jerry” Goodwin, 73, of Dagsboro, Del., formerly of Las Cruses, N.M., and Exeter, N.H., passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017, at his home. He was born in Dover, N.H., on April 22, 1944, son of the late Franklin Goodwin and Pearl (Cross) Goodwin.
Goodwin began his working career as a meat cutter before going into the banking industry. He worked for Ocean National Bank, which is now People’s United Bank, for more than 20 years. After leaving the bank, Goodwin worked again as a meat cutter for Sam’s Club and then became a motor coach driver for the Coach Company in the Boston area before retiring completely in 2006.
He loved living near the water and enjoyed countless hours on the Atlantic Ocean fishing with his wife.
In addition to his parents, Goodwin was preceded in death by three siblings Rodney, Frances and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joyce L. (Durant) Goodwin; three children, Kristin Goodwin of Berwick, Maine, Timothy Goodwin of Dagsboro, and Brian Goodwin of Salisbury, Md.; two brothers, Colin Goodwin and Lee Goodwin, both of Maine; a sister, Nancy Sullivan of Dover, N.H.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
