Charles Earl “Bobby” Compton, 78, died suddenly May 30, 2017, at his home in Georgetown, Del. He was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Washington, D.C., to the late Earl and Mable Leapley Compton.
He worked for 32 years for District Government Printing Division/Binding. He retired in 1995, and moved from Clinton, Md., to Georgetown, Del., in 1997. He loved retirement life, simply feeding his birds, sitting on the front porch in the summer overlooking his yard.
In addition to his parents, Compton was also preceded in death by a son, Eddie Compton, and a brother, John Carroll Compton. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Helen Marie Luskey Compton; his devoted daughter, Christine Marie Inglett-Compton; nine grandchildren, Molly, Ty and Eric Inglett, Tony Heefner, Eddie Compton Jr., Patricia Largen, and Jesse, Shane and Jacob Compton; his beloved sister, Nora Virginia “Ginger” Albrittain; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Compton was to be cremated, with burial at sea, along with his son, Eddie. A private memorial service and gathering of friends and family is to be held at a later date.
