James “Jay” Warren Baker Jr., 43, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Georgetown, Del., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He was born in Lewes, Del., on Oct. 22, 1973, son of James Warren Baker Sr. and Cynthia A. (Towers) Baker.
After graduating from Sussex Central High School in 1991, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1992 to 1994. He was a chef in various local restaurants and had a true passion for cooking.
Baker was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved watching the “Rocky” movies. His greatest enjoyment in his life was time spent with his family. His loving sons, J.J. and Corey, were the light of his life.
Baker was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rod and Eleanor Baker. In addition to his parents, James Warren Baker and Cynthia Baker of Georgetown, he is survived by two sons, James “J.J.” Warren Baker III of Dagsboro, Del., and Corey Jay Baker of Georgetown; the mother of his two children and his former wife, Dionne Baker of Georgetown; his maternal grandparents, Ken and Terry Towers; a close and dear friend, Kim Evans of Wilmington; a sister, Jodi Montgomery, and her husband, Jeremy, of Ellendale, Del.; a brother, Steven Baker and his wife, Danielle, of Georgetown; a niece; and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for June 6, 2017, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Georgetown, Del. Interment was to follow, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del. Condolences may be sent online at www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
