James J. Hickman, 71, of Milton, Del., passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del. He was born on Monday, Nov. 12, 1945, in Lewes, son of the late John A. Hickman and Edda M. (Long) Hickman.
He grew up in Lewes and graduated from Cape Henlopen High School. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Hickman then started a lifelong career with Suburban Propane, retiring after 34 years.
Hickman was a 40-year charter member and 25-year Pilgrim of Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646, American Legion Post 17 and the Cape Henlopen Grange. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. In his free time he enjoyed stock car racing, spending time at the Moose and time spent with his family.
Hickman is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Tressia R. Hickman; his sister, Olivia Hudson and her husband, James, of Harbeson, Del.; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Moose services and Christian funeral services were scheduled for June 14, 2017, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, Del. Interment with military honors was to follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton, Del.
