George Edward Snow Sr., 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Dover, Del., to the late George F. Snow and Airrener Allen Snow.
Snow was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the World War II era and as an Army Air Corps gunner. After serving his country, he became a truck driver for several local lumber mills. He was a member of New Holy Trinity COGIC in Millsboro, Del., where he was assistant pastor. He was devoted to his family, especially to his grandchildren. Snow loved gardening and definitely had a green thumb; he could fix about anything and loved to work on cars.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Emma Snow, in 2014; a son, Jonathan, in 1973; four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his children, Sarah Bull and her husband, Bobby, of Dagsboro, Del., Stephany Wescott and her husband, John, of Delmar, Del., Deborah Snead of Millsboro, George E. Snow Jr. of Millsboro, Lorraine “Vick” Barnett of Burtonsville, Md., and Valerie Snow of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Sylvia Payton of Millsboro and Diane Watson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; a trove of beloved great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at New Holy Trinity COGIC, 1st Street, Millsboro, Del., where friends may call at noon for visitation and viewing. Elder Bobby Bull Jr. will officiate. Burial with honors will held Monday, June 26, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
