John F. Carl, 84, of Lewes, Del., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was born in Wilmington, Del., son of the late John H. and Edith Attix Carl.
Carl graduated from Brown Vocational, in the Class of 1952. He continued his education at Temple University for engineering and was a devoted engineer at Dupont for 34 years.
He was a member of St. Matthews by-the-Sea United Methodist Church and an active member of Fenwick Island Lions Club, where he was in charge of the Meals on Wheels program for 12 years.
Carl and his wife, Barbara, spent 14 wonderful years in Keenwik on the Bay. He enjoyed crabs and beer while socializing with family and friends. He loved to golf and cruise around on his pontoon boat.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; his son John Carl and his wife, Cathy; his daughters, Cindy Tomlinson and her husband, Jack, and Donna Kishbaugh and her husband, Alan; eight grandchildren, Stephen, Justin, Corina, Mary Beth, Darrin, Barbara, Connor and Britney; and two great-grandchildren, Jared and Alexia.
The family thanked the staff of Cadbury Skilled Care for their care during his final months.
A memorial service will be held June 22, 2017, at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home, Selbyville, Del.
