Harry Edwards Simmons Jr., 92, of Selbyville, Del., died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at his home. He was born in Chester, Pa., son of the late Harry E. Simmons Sr. and Helen G. (McEntee) Simmons.
A resident of Hyattsville Md., for 37 years, Simmons was a retired sales manager for the Hecht Company and was a Maryland real estate agent. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City, Md., VFW Post #7234 in Ocean View, Del., and American Legion Post #166 in Ocean City. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Simmons was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette R. Simmons, in 2013, and three sisters, Dorothy Kennedy, Majorie Johnson and Virginia King. He is survived by two sons, Harry E. Simmons III and his wife, Liz, of Gaithersburg, Md., and Robert A. Simmons and his wife, Carol, of Crownsville, Md.; two daughters, Linda C. Crabtree and her husband, Steve, of Front Royal, Va., and Deborah A. Martucci and her husband, Richard, of Ocean View; nine grandchildren, Harry E. Simmons IV, Christa, Matthew, Kevin, Benjamin, Courtney, Robert, Ryan and Danielle; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was scheduled for June 28, 2017, at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home, Selbyville, Del. Interment was to be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del.
