Sylvia A. Williams, 93, departed this life on July 6, 2017. She was born in Middlesex, N.C. on May, 1, 1924, to Sandy and Lenda Williams.
Williams came to Delaware in June of 1948. She worked at several factories for years and retired in 1986 from NCR. After retirement, she became a senior companion and foster parent to many individuals. She loved to cook and sew.
Williams was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, Ellendale, Del., since 1959. She was instrumental in starting the Brother’s and Sister’s Day in 1985, which continues to this day.
Williams was preceded in death by her son Daniel Vann; her siblings James Williams, John R. Williams, Genora Hodge and Mary Archer; and grandsons Damarris Taylor, and Jason and Dwight Vann. She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sons, Leroy Williams of Frankford, Del., Charles T. Vann and his wife, Sherry, of Camden, Del.; three daughters, A. Rose Hall of Milford, Del., Gloria Vann of Frankford and Wanda Jones Nickelson and her husband, Wesley, of Millville, Del.; a brother, the Most Rev. Daniel Williams of Selma, N.C.; a granddaughter whom she raised, Tijuana Neely of Georgia; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed.
Funeral services were to be held privately.
