Walter W. Rhoads, 67, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Lebanon, Pa., passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Unit at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. He was born in Lebanon on Sept.14, 1949, son of the late Walter Rhoads and Josephine (Heverling) Rhoads.
Rhoads owned and operated his own landscaping company in Pennsylvania. After moving to Delaware, he was the maintenance supervisor for West Bay Park in Lewes before retiring and built decks for local members of the community.
He loved cooking especially, barbequing on “Matilda,” his pig-cooker. Rhoads also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, hunting, fishing and helping out those in need. He was the historian of AMVETS Post #22 in Long Neck, Del., and a past member of St. Gertrude’s Club in Lebanon, Pa., and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Rhoads is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sherrie I. (McEl
wee) Rhoads; two daughters, Tia Marie Reppert-Rhoads and her companion, Edwin Carreras, of Cleona, Pa., and JoDee Rhoads Rhoads and her companion, Steven Tribioli, of Cornwall, Pa.; three stepchildren, Mike Taraschi and his wife, Donna, of Smyrna, Del., Mitch Taraschi and his wife, Kim, of Eagan, Minn., and Tamlynn Fraley and her husband, Chris, of Alamogordo, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom Rhoads; and two sisters, Mildred Stripe and Carol Hegy.
