Robert Clifford “Bob” Megee, 81, of Long Neck, Del., died Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Seasons Hospice in Newark, Del., after suffering a massive stroke at home on July 4, 2017. He was born on March 13, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late William Clifford Megee and Belinda (Monaghan) Megee.
Megee worked for many years as a driver-salesman for several dairies in New Jersey and Delaware and owned his own business for nine years. He was raised in Philadelphia but spent many childhood summers in Ocean View, Del., where his father’s family was from, and so he chose to move his family to nearby Long Neck in 1971. Megee enjoyed his family, fishing, Notre Dame and Eagles football, eating home-cooked meals, traveling to Ireland and Socks, a stray cat that adopted him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maureen; his children, Sue Snyder and her husband, Craig, of Hockessin, Del., and Paul of Auburn Hills, Mich.; cherished granddaughters Megan and Abby Snyder of Hockessin; his sisters, Claire Yost and her husband, Hank, of New Jersey and Charlotte MacElrath of Florida; sisters- and brothers-in-law in Ireland and England; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for July 18, 2017, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Millsboro, Del., with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del.
