Edward L. Swierczewski, 86, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Wilmington and Clayton, Del., passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wilmington on Jan. 9, 1931, son of the late Leopold Swierczewski and Tekla (Kielkowski) Swierczewski.
Swierczewski retired from the Carpenters Local Union 626 in Wilmington after 30 years of service. He was a simple man who owned a home in Massey’s Landing for more than 40 years and became a permanent resident in 1985. He had a passion for fishing.
Swierczewski was a lifetime member of the Polish Library, a past member of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Wilmington and at the time of his death a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, Del.
In addition to his parents, Swierczewski was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Swierczewski, in 1993. He is survived by a son, Michael Swierczewski and his wife, Joyce, of Millsboro; two daughters, Connie Crew and her husband, Butch, of Chestertown, Md., and Catherine Swierczewski of Millsboro; a sister, Lucille Duszak of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was to be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, Del., where friends may visit after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately, at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington, Del.
