Shirley Marker Oliphant, 69, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 28, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Cora Marker. She was married to Vaughn Oliphant for 45 years.
Oliphant loved spending time with her loved ones. She enjoyed cooking family dinners and playing cards with her brothers and sisters. She was an active member of the Indian River Senior Center, where she sang with the Sunshine Singers. She also enjoyed traveling anywhere she could with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed spoiling her family during the Christmas season — her most favorite time of the year.
Oliphant is survived by two sons, Wayne and his wife, Christine, and Tony and his wife, Jen; four grandchildren, Megan and her husband, Justen, Mindi and her husband, Connor, Maddi and Seth; her siblings, Harry Marker and his wife, Betty, Maxine Baker and her husband, Vernon, Gail Adkins and her husband, Joe, Ronnie Marker, and Jeff Marker and his wife, Wendy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service and celebration of Oliphant’s life were scheduled for Aug. 2, 2017, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Del., officiated by Darryl Hudson. Interment was to follow at Millsboro Cemetery. She loved flowers, and floral tributes were welcomed. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
