Robert J. “Bob” Collins, 80, of Gumboro, Del., passed away, surrounded by his family, on Monday, July 24, 2017. He was born in Gumboro, to the late James N. and Georgia Anna Daisey Collins.
Collins worked as a general contractor alongside his brother, Gerald Collins, for 37 years. He was a lifetime member of the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company and attended Gumboro United Methodist Church. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and loved playing the Dobro. Collins was a family-oriented man who loved kidding and carrying on, going to yard sales and building crafts. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Collins was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Carmel and Floyd Collins, and two sisters, Darlene Collins and Elsie Boyce. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Evelyn Marie Dukes Collins of Gumboro; four children, Bruce Collins and his wife, Jo Ann, of Laurel, Del., Steve Collins and his wife, Lisa, Sharon Baker and her husband, Darryl, and Jeff Collins and his companion, Katrina Kruger, all of Gumboro; two brothers, Donald Collins and his wife, June, of Millsboro, Del., and Gerald Collins and his wife, Dorothy, of Gumboro; two sisters, Betty Rust and her husband, Everett, of Millsboro, and Carol Murray of Georgetown, Del.; eight grandchildren, Jason Collins and his wife, Shannon, Vance Collins and his wife, Sabrina, Blake Collins and his spouse, Corey, Brandon Collins and his wife, Amanda, Jim Collins and his wife, Kate, Kyle Collins and his wife, Sarah, Suzanne Riddle and her husband, Jason, and Julie Collins and her husband, James; six great-grandchildren; his canine companion, Brandy; and extended family members and friends.
A viewing was to be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Del. The funeral and burial were to be private.
